New Open Source tool for Creators
CodeAnimator v0.1.0 - Initial Release!
Hey everyone! Excited to finally release CodeAnimator into the wild.
What is it?
CodeAnimator is a desktop app that turns your source code into smooth, animated videos. If you ever wanted to showcase your code in any other way than just screen recording or static screenshots, now you can. It's powered by Manim under the hood, but you don't need to write a single line of Python to use it.
Why I built this
I got tired of screen recording my IDE for tutorials. The cursor jumping around, the typos, the awkward pauses—it never looked clean. I wanted something that would just animate code appearing on screen, with proper syntax highlighting, at my own pace.
So I built it.
Features in this release:
- Upload any code file (Python, JS, Rust, Go, Java, and more)
- Set which lines to include
- Customize all your syntax colors
- Control the animation with line groups—reveal code however you want
- Export to MP4 video
- Runs completely offline
What's next?
This is v0.1.0, so there's plenty more to come. Thinking about:
- More animation styles
- GIF export
- Preset themes
- Windows/Linux builds
Let me know what features you'd like to see!
Download
Grab the macOS version now. Windows and Linux coming soon.
Thanks for checking it out.
